He is 34 and was born in Portimão. Francisco Carmo Canelas is one of the most charismatic Portuguese surfers. His career started when he was 14 in the Portuguese Junior Championship, then the Portugal Open and European WQS. Headworx, Criação da Ilha Hawaiana, Reef, Gotcha, Oakley, Island Style, B.side, SPO Surf Boards and ONDA Wetsuits were some sponsors whe had during his professional career. He won the respect of the surfers community for his style and go-for-it power, with great performances in Hawai, Australia, Brazil, Canary Islands, Maldive Islands, Azores, Madeira, Spain, France, Morocco. As a trainer he had 3 athletes on the National Team, 6 regional champions, 2 national vice-champions and he is a member of the committee “Elite trainer” created by the Portuguese Surf Federation in 2014.
